I've got this feeling that Legalization (not to be confused with decriminalization) of marijuana in Canada is going to happen and fairly soon too. Is anyone else picking up on this vibe or am i just messed?

Not with Bush in the white house. Decriminalisation perhaps, legalisation no chance. Bush will force the UN to come down hard on any country that even suggests that.

I've got the feeling too, yeah.
I think it will be the courts who end up deciding it for us. They aren't inhibited by foreign relations like the bastards in the gov are.

The courts can't legalise anything - canada is signed up to a UN treaty forbidding the legalisation of drugs. The US will push incredibly hard to stop them pulling out of this.
At best it will be decriminalisation.

it is already decriminalized in canada dude. But charges for selling or growing are even worst now, so I doubt legalisation will happen soon.

Actually... Canada recently signed a treaty against the UN to liberalize drug policy and work with it as a medical and not a criminal problem.
No one's shutting the fuck up, Pot is in the mainstreme, with anyone and everyone, Its an issue and its not going away until something is done. 15 years of Marc Emery and every other media glutton breathing down the neck of Canada..i think The Canadians will realize *give it a chance* and cash in.

Yeah, the courts CAN legalize pot. They already have effectively removed any form of controls on simple possession (under 30g). I think we Canadians are ready for a change. It's gotten to the point, in only a couple years, where everyone at least has an opinion that they are willing to express. PDU is right, it's on all our minds now to some degree. The subject comes up in the media almost constantly. And besides, if the UN can't even stop America from going to war, they have no chance of stopping something like this. And if they try, they'll find out how much we Canadians do value our sovereignty. We may not always look it, but we are quite a patriotic bunch when we must be.

Holland have never legalised it and it's been decriminalised over there for decades. They are signed to a UN charter that prevents it. The US would shit all over them if they tried to legalise it.

imagine the revenues the gov could collect...maybe some of it could be used for our underfunded health care...more nurses, treatment and prevention progs...etc. i mean, people are going to use if it's leagal or not. why not use this to the nations advantage. kinda seems like a wasted resourse to me. ...maybe they could ease up on the parking tickets they hand out like candy in the t-dot...

for sure. legal = less money spent on cops looking for stoners so they can actually catch criminals and not lock up kids.

Doesn't matter the benefits of it. Can you imagine explaining you want to legalise pot to the crazies in the white house? Any country that pulls out of the UN agreements is going to get a serious fucking from Georgie Bush.

i find it ironic though that people bring up the UN and how it relates to them and shit. like who cares, it's our country. bush didnt seem to care that people didn't want him invading iraq and taking them over but it still happened. so fuck george bush. fuck him in his stupid ass. (i hope he reads this).
