Colonizing Help Plz
    #1928747 - 09/18/03 11:21 AM (20 years, 6 months ago)

ok, short story, i got a spore print from a friend , but it was a really small one so i did all the procedure , but it was so small that you could harndly see spores in the syringe , but i there still were some inside , so i inoculated the brf cakes and ive been like 3 days and absolutely no mycelial growth, my question is , that if it is posible for colonization to take place with such little spores, will it happen in more time or will it just die out?

A little less time, be patient. I have had jars take a full month to colonize. Keep temp close to 80 degrees.

Spores are microscopic. There were probably millions of them in the syringe and you wouldn't have seen them without a microscope.

Three days is nothing. Patience is the name of the game in this hobby.

if there are spores in the syringe...and the print was viable...there should be no reason why the syringe wont work.

Spores vendors generally sell syringes that you couldn't
even say there's spores in there. So, if the spores were viable and you made your syringe sterile, it will colonize.

even with a small print there will be millions of spores in the syringe 3 days is not very long to wait. i mostly see growth in mine about 5-8 days after shooting the jars at 85F.
