Is it true that Carbon stays at bottom of SGFC?
    #19212660 - 12/01/13 01:11 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

The fruiting chamber needs to be fanned for fresh air and removing carbon; I heard that carbon stays at the bottom of the chamber, above the perlite. Is this true?

If this is true, then is it desirable to elevate the cakes 1-3 inches to be exposed to less carbon?

Carbon dioxide can build up in the FC over time if there's insufficient fresh air getting in, but the cakes are going to be exposed to same amount whether or not you elevate them.

This thread was moved from Advanced Mycology.

Reason:
No, the carbon in the form of CO2 does not stay at the bottom of a fruiting chamber, especially a shotgun terrarium.  The air currents carry it away.

Off topic in advanced mycology.
