Most Secure P2P Program - Earth Station 5 (Kazaa Move Over!)
    #1916975 - 09/14/03 11:07 PM (20 years, 7 months ago)

For those of us that enjoy p2p programs such as Kazaa and Kazaa Lite, we know that it's geting more risky everyday to share files. The media has had much news about all of the Kazaa file sharers geting into legal trouble recently.

Even Kazaa Lite gives away a file sharer's IP. In fact, the RIAA will not bother downloading most shared mp3s. The RIAA, and such, will often just look at the name/title/description/file size (sometimes the "digital thumb print") of shared mp3s and then send out Kazaa messages warning of legal action. Over a thousand have been sued in America from the R.I.A.A due to mostly file sharing of mp3s via Kazaa based p2p programs. If the R.I.A.A. can scare enough people from sharing files then programs like Kazaa become almost obsolete.

For months now my friends stoped using Kazaa Lite and switched to Earth Station 5. It is by far the most secure and safest p2p program to share files with. I wont get into all of the technicall details here, but Earthstation 5 does MANY things to hide a file sharer's locaction/IP (such as using proxies).

For any P2P fans here, you can read all about ES5 on their forums and decide for yourself if it's better than Kazaa and the rest.

Da Download Link: http://download.es5.com/es5beta.exe

I'm on the forums on ES5 as well.

Cheers!

Go through the orange yesterday

I watched intently for a while to both sides, infront of me and behind me.
I was impressed to learn there was another way to look... UP!
More impressive still was the fact that there were beautiful stars in this direction
Most amazing fact of all was the prospect of another direction when I was done with up. DOWN! Which, based on the feel through my toes would be a fine sandy beach!

Is it just me, or is it hard, if not, impossible to find mp3s for a lot of bands? I tried doing a search for Slayer, and nothing came up. I kept searching, and then something came up, which wasn't even the band Slayer. Then I searched for Britney Spears (the most popular, mainstream thing I can think of) and heaps of results came up.
Nice idea for a p2p program, but if I can't find fuck all on it, I may as well stick to Soulseek and DC++ for now.

ES5 has grown a lot since it first came to my attention last spring. I admit that it is not as popular as Kazaa yet... However it is growing extremely quickly. (I first discovered ES5 on the K-Lite forums)

They are mostly know for movie downloads right now, however the selection of ALL types of files is growing everyday.

What I like the most about ES5 is it's security and the fact that people can talk directly with the programers that wrote/update the program on their message forums.

How do you uninstall this thing? I uninstalled it, and there's some files left over, which won't let me delete them.

I'll try rebooting later. It says program/file in use, access denied. Make sure file isn't in use or write protected.

if that doesnt work then do a safe mode boot...

This thing could have alot of potential when the RIAA starts handing out more fines.

Thanks for this post, I have been wondering if there were more alternatives.

I have been using the new K++ which supposedly blocks IP, but the latest Limp Biz song off there is all corrupted, even tried different file sizes, all of them squeek, chirp, etc somewhere in the song. Is this a new code added to tracks to prevent d/l?

Thanks again.

prob not... Maybe it was due to bad encoding or master copy. Is the cd released yet?

The last I knew, K++ does NOT block one's Ip... I find it (the term "ip blocking" etc..) extremely misleading. At first I too thought that K++ blocked a file sharer's ip address. After a friend of mine got a Kazaa based instant message (warning) from a music company (for mp3 sharing) while running K-Lite (K++), it was very obvious that the ip address of a file sharer is perfectly visable with K-Lite.

On the K-Lite forums it was explained to me that all the K++ program does is to block any know RIAA ip address ranges from downloading from such a setup. Of corse the RIAA does not always even bother with downloading the mp3's anyway, and one must constantly seek the latest updated K++ program to block any newly discovered RIAA ip address ranges.

Personally I find that Kazaa Lite (K++), or any Kazaa based p2p for that matter, is false security in these modern days of p2p warfare.

Cheers!
