In search of the Hygrocybe...

Hello Shroomery,
I was wondering if I could ask the community for a helping hand. I am currently trying to compile an image collection of Hygrocybe mushrooms for a upcoming research project. Currently I have collected 104 of the 600+ species of Hygrocybe. I am asking for a helping hand in collecting as many images of different species as possible.
The link below outlines species I have already found and others that I am still looking for.
Hygrocybe Species
If you find any of the species I am looking for, can you please post images in this thread and I will update the spreadsheet as the thread moves along.
Much appreciated my friends!

Looks like you have most of the common ones. A lot of the ones that you don't have are BS species or BS variety names.
Two species that you are missing are:
Hygrocybe erythrocala
http://mushroomobserver.org/3791
Hygrocybe reesiae
http://mushroomobserver.org/3788
One that is missing from your spreadsheet is Hygrocybe psittacina var. californica

Heres a Hygrocybe laeta not sure what variant it was found under douglas fir and hemlock along with wild rhododendron and mountain huckleberry in central Oregon in a old growth forest (Opal Creek) . The young specimens had some interesting green bruising on the stipe.

According to his .xls, he already has H. laeta.
OP, where did you get all your photos?
Don't forget to get all the ones on wikimedia commons and mushroomobserver.org.

Ya I saw that, it just didnt key out perfectly with the green bruising so I thought it might be a different variant that I couldnt find with my resources. Those reesieae and psitiaccina var californica are blingin, I love hygrocybes. I wonder why the genus developed such a wide range of bright colors...

Hello Alan,
Most of them were from either wikimedia commons and over at mushroomobserver.org - In fact most of the Hygrocybe photo's are from you You have so many great photo's out there! Malcolm Storey, Steve Axford, Walt Sturgeon and Len Worthington have also numerous beautiful photos of Hygrocybes attributed to them.

I am pretty sure that the best Hygrocybes in the world are at Lane Cove Bushland Park near Sydney.

I have never been to Sydney so I will have to take your word for it. I am not sure where Steve Axford took these pictures of Hygrocybes, but they are just incredible.

The protection of Lane Cove was ground breaking in Australian conservation, being the first reserve protected specifically for it's fungi (in particular the Hygrocybaceae). You probably already know about Tony Young's monograph of the Hygrophoraceae of Australia, but if you don't here's the link
Steve Axeford is an awesome fungi photographer. He has some truly amazing photos.

I hate to bump a thread, but I was wondering if anybody has found any additional Hygrocybe photos to add to the collection?

Sorry, I meant to ask you about this one yesterday but forgot... Hygrocybe virginea is what I found, I believe. I see you have it crossed off but their are variants of it that you don't have crossed off. I didn't want to clutter up your thread with pics you don't want http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/19160455 That's the thread they are in, its the first one at the top. I think I have a few more, and one or two habitat shots also. If you would like to use those in my thread, then by all means, please do and if you would like the other ones, just let me know. Sorry if its not what you're looking for....but ill keep an eye out
