Leratiomyces ceres?
    #19043384 - 10/27/13 11:32 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

Habitat:
sawdust, chips

Gills:
to me, hypholoma-like-greenish-yellow
Stem:
fibrous, long relative to cap
Cap:
4-8cm, a bit tacky despite dryish conditions

Spore print color:
fruits not collected

they seemed too uniformly orangish to be bricktops but i'd never seen them before, so, are these Leratiomyces ceres?

you might be right but these were bright orange, not yellow.  the full sun didn't help the colors in the photos.

It doesn't quite look like Hypholoma fascicular to me unless there's much variation in the species.  I'm no pro but I see fascicular nearly every day and it's definitely yellow.  The only time I've ever seen it in the realm of orange was when it was mature and water-logged.

I think they are probably sun bleached, I still stand by my ID. They look like a Hypholoma and the only green tinted one I know of is fasciculare.

H. capnoides seems closer to my eye.

The caespitose habit makes me doubt it's Leratiomyces, which is usually more gregarious.

Hypholoma fasciculare certainly, they can certainly be more yellow or more orange like these and those gills clearly have the greenish tinge.
