as a general rule, how cooked should your kernels of grain be before you PC them? split? right before split?

Which grain? Personally I don't like to PC split millet, it tends to burst even furthur. Others may have different opinions.

rye doesn't need to be cooked, the PCing will cook them. You can soak them overnight too.

if you cook them, you should cook till u c some of the kernels split (blow)..... What ever the grain is.... But as daussaulit said, u can just fill a jar with some water and rye grain, then PC it... That worked fine for me...

What i do now is; soak the grains for 12-18 hours, boil them till i see some kernels split (the point here is to force grains to absord as much water as they can... ) , drain for at least 3 hours, fill into jars and PC... Innoculate when cooled down....
