1yr Shroomiversary * 1
    #18566268 - 07/16/13 11:08 AM (10 years, 8 months ago)

I know most .. all of you didn't know this but I registered here on this day of last year.
To some this is just a "drug forum" but not to me. I didn't come here for drug knowledge, I already had that.
I am not the type of person to read trip reports or get dosage advice, I just ate a handful and hoped for a good time.
And I'm not the type of person who takes cultivation advice from trusted experts, I try my own way first, utterly fuck up and fail miserably
THEN I take their advice. You get a more thorough learning experience that way and you respect certain things like proper pasteurization.
Because you've seen the worst.

I came here mainly because of you guys.
The community here is very different. Different in the best of ways.
Its something I never experienced. Reading through the free-minded and uncensored opinions was border lining an addiction.
I realized, with time, how truly brainwashed I, and most of the world are. I've learned so much about society and politics, more than I wanted to know.
And I learned a lot about myself, such as how much room for improvement there is.
Ego, and the snuffing of its control on me being a major point in this year. I learned a lot about religion, things nobody in person would ever tell me.. hard truths.
I have gained new hobbies; photography, biology, mycology, entomology, microscopy, I now do more hiking and outdoor activities than ever, and have found peace and wisdom in nature due to these hobbies.
There is no city, no car or house or place I would rather be, than in the forest.
I have went from cultivating some Psilocybes to cultivating 20ish other species of actives/edibles/medicinals including culturing and testing wild species I encounter.
I have even started a business out of it.

I have even improved my health by changing foods and exercise routines based on advice members have given me

I have learned how to improve my grammar and writing by.. huge bounds.
I have met some of the most brilliant and inspirational human beings, and I have extracted knowledge from them, and their philosophy.
This place attracts all kinds, eager teens, artists of the truest form, super-logical and decisive types, compassionate and loving types and devoted scientists.
You're all significant and amazing no matter who you are.

The shroomery is what you make it. If you want drug knowledge she has that, she also has just about everything else.
But its her inhabitants that make her so omniscient. Its a collective consciousness.

In short, I owe a lot to the Shroomery.
I don't want to think of what this year would've been like without you.

Thank you Shroomery and thank you all.

“The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question: "Is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, "Hey, don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride." And we kill those people.” ― Bill Hicks

I loved every bit of that. It's obvious you have a knowledge and you are able to share that with others. I've enjoyed your photography and the rest of photo's of fungi and nature on this website.

"I have gained new hobbies; photography, biology, mycology, entomology, microscopy, I now do more hiking and outdoor activities than ever, and have found peace and wisdom in nature due to these hobbies.

THAT is great. Keep doing the things you love to do.

And I love the Bill Hicks's quote. I like to read every new year. Fits the one year mark for sure.

Congrats, dude!  You and BKF are a riot.  I've learned much about what I am doing from you, but you already knew that.  I am glad to have made your acquaintance and I hope my travels will take me near where you are so I can take both of you out for dinner, drinking and some laughs.  In the meantime, laugh it up and live large.

Thanks everyone, now I'm wishing I would have spent more time on this because I missed so much.
I barely covered half of everything I've learned and/or gained interest in. I now realize i have way to many interests.
On top of the stuff I listed I practice guitar electric and acoustic every day (also due to a member here helping me out), practice graphics designing, animation and manipulation in GIMP/GAP and PS, I've been growing about 40 specie of cacti and hundreds of plants, I've studied botany for a long time. My latest endeavor is Latin, which I am studying right now because I cannot let my self mispronounce species/genera names. There are still others I can't remember right now.

But how can you just focus on one thing?
There is so much to know. As far as I'm concerned our brains are unlimited, we have infinite memory. By thinking(or believing)that you are limited you're effectively limiting yourself.

My hobbies before Shroomery and my first shroom dose were video games and TV.
I fished sometimes, quit school, and just worked.

Anyone else similar? Mind sharing?

Huh, seemed like you have been here longer, time flies I guess, or gets slow.
Oddly enough upon checking, today is my 3 year anniversary.

I'll drink that, I guess it's like sharing a birthday :chugbeer:
