Would it be possible to add a chess game to it? Perhaps one that goes one move at a time that you can play when you're logged in, almost like a correspondence game?
There are a lot of shroomy chess players. For sure i will be fun to do tournaments and stuff too.

I would love chess. But it would have to be a live game with time limits. The whole, one move at a time thing, I just don't dig it
lichess works really well for this though

Agreed! It'd be great if it could do that correspondence chess thing, too. I would invite everyone here to a game of chess. Fucking love chess.

Agreed. But pretty sure this has been suggested like 50 times and Y man hath spoken:

Ythan said: This is a popular suggestion, but unfortunately simultaneous two-player network games are beyond the scope of the arcade for technical reasons.

Ythan said: Hey,
I like chess too and I also think this would be cool, but it's really not that technologically feasible. Writing a multiplayer game is no small task and none of the admins have any Flash experience. It would certainly be possible but it doesn't seem like the best use of our resources. If any of our members know Flash and want to create the game, we'll provide the server resources to host it. PM me for information on how the arcade scoring system works.

So who's our flash man?

Hmm. Thank you for enlightening me. I had no idea it had even been brought up before. I didn't even have in mind a two player game like live player on player as has been brought up either, although that would be amazing. I was a member for a couple years of a correspondence chess site that had tournaments and matches over the computer. It was a log in and make a move thing and players could pick their own time controls, I liked to play ten days per move. It was a pay site, and then I got into action chess on chessclub.com which is a different animal altogether.
I guess there's a lot that would go into the interface of a chess program like that, even if it just stores one move at a time and provides a visual interface and with automatic tournament pairings and such. But still that's just a convenience factor to sending an email with a move like 1. e4 or whatever and setting up the board yourself to think about it. I don't know.

I never actually had one go over 8 or 9 months. We'd get up to ten days but unless I was busy I'd usually just take a couple. Some guys would be logged in at the same time and be going back and forth like a conventional time controlled game. One guy I played and beat in a tourney that took 6 months invited me to his irl chess club and I bought a us chess federation membership just to play in it and drove out to ypsilani michigan and we ended up being matched in the first round where he defeated me. I blamed the time controls of course, I wasn't used to half hour blitz games.
