Electric Stove / Burner ?
    #1824093 - 08/17/03 08:08 PM (20 years, 7 months ago)

I'm thinking of getting an electric portable burner / stove to use with a pressure cooker since I hardly get enough time alone to be able to use the kitchen. I plan to just sterilize everything in my room. Has anyone ever done this or have any advice?

Thanks

Should be fine except I would not do it on your carpet or anything, make sure the whole thing is on something fairly non flammable. Also, PC's make noise, so not sure how stealthy this would be anyways.

Yea, you'd be incredibly stupid to attempt this shit with your parents home anyway... wait 'till they're away to PC/boil jars...

And if you can't do that, go over a friend's house when his parents are gone

I wasn't going to leave it on the floor and walk away, I have some tables etc I would put it on. How much noise does a pressure cooker make I work from home and am online most of the day with the radio or tv on. I used to have a 465CFM Dayton fan going in my closet so I can't picture the PC being much louder? I saw an electric pressure cooker but only about 8qrts so not sure how many half pint jars it would fit. If I don't find any larger size electric i'll do the electric burner and get a larger size PC. Thanks for the replies.

Lol, I was a bit more hostile because I thought you were the same person posting the same question again(his thread is older)

You even mentioned something about posting multiple threads, I sort of assumed you were asking the same question

Sorry about that though

1,100 watt single burners are under $10 at wal-mart. takes over an hour to get up to temp though, depending on your pc.

Over an hour isn't really a long time. Here is a link to an electric pressure cooker I was looking at, but don't know if I should get it since it's small compared to some others I looked at.

small and expensive, and after some coaxing from other members i realized it's a bad choice. for the same price you can get a nice PC and a burner and a nice pot (for things like pasturization). what is an hour when this stuff takes weeks to colonize?
