Would you consider renaming the thread "the official caerulescens", in the name of promoting scientific accuracy? Also, congrats! Nice find.

Are we all hopping on this because Alan said that someone else thought weilii = caerulescens after microscopic examination?

Yea I guess it's just up in the air whether or not to call weilii Caerulescens.

I thought it was settled, although in

it says that one has abundant cheilocystidia(or was it pleurocystidia? I could prob keep those straight if I had a scope!) and the other has few-none. I thought that it has just been established that there are alot of variations in the species and that it may be a complex. Maybe we should start calling these P. cearulescens var. weilii.

awesome finds, man!  i am also in gwinnett but have had total shit luck the past few days finding anything.  what kind of environment did you find these in?  i've been scoping the lawns around me, my property (lots of land, neighbors are cool with it) and some parks in southern gwinnett (area where i live).  the only place i haven't looked is the woods i know in northern and eastern parts of the county.  that wouldn't happen to be the kind of place you found 'em, would it?

I don't see any evidence that there are different varieties of P. caerulescens...

It was described from Alabama in 1923, so if there are different varieties, the weilii variety is the true P. caerulescens and the Mexican ones would be something else.

I found about 12 miniature caerulescens at one of my spots today.
they were really small and cute and growing out of moss.
:yesnod:

Sorry I don't have a picture, i'll try to get one later tonight.

Nice, how much weight is that?
They should stay good in that jar for a while, as long as they are cracker dry.

Have you preserved them like this before?

It's sadly only 10g dry. And no I haven't.
