Pan/Cope cyan first time questions
    #18171253 - 04/26/13 10:46 AM (10 years, 10 months ago)

i currently have 12 1qrt rye jars colonizing with myc showing up last night and was wondering if it would be wise to do a single monotub with them. i also have 20lbs of high grade hpoo/compost for when i std and 1 pound of sterilized casing to top it off and was just curious if anyone else who is active here has done so before. its a 64qrt sterlite tub ive used for cubes in the past with extreme success tho i did find i had to cover some of the extra hole i drilled in as it was getting slightly too much FAE and loosing moisture to the point i needed to spritz it every few hours so am guessing this might be a tub more suited to pans/copes.
the sub depth will be roughly 4.5" any tips greatly appreciated. also how long do rye jars of pans/copes take to colonize ideally in comparison to cubes as well as the same question regarding colonizing of the bulk sub . thanks in advance

MA

depending on strain/substrain, mycelium spreads about the same speed as cubensis, sometimes more aggressive, sometimes less.
Ive never monotub'd Panaeoulus species but I can tell you they need lots of FAE! So a monotub may or may not work for you... better wait for some1 who tried a monotub

blue helix has alot of pan info i used, its a balance of 95%rh and fresh air. I heard a mini green house would be the best because of the fresh air.

Dude, its always better to start small, and then scale with experience.

read Blue Helix's threads.

A substrate depth of 4 1/2" is not appropriate for Pans.  1 1/2" to 2" is more commonly used.

a casing layer of 50/50+ (also thin .. 1/4") pasteurized, not sterilized, is also the norm.

good luck
