Can anyone ID this mushroom?
I planted a plant in some potting soil that I bought at the store, and about 3 weeks later, voila. It's really bright yellow with a lot of texture. The picture speaks a thousand words.

Much appreciated!

Those are the (poisonous) "Lemon-Yellow Lepiota", or - Lepiota lutea.

They are found on the ground, in leaf litter and compost; in greenhouses and house plants.

Keep shroomin,
GG

hey thanks! Yup, you nailed it!
Found some more info on the web on them. Doesn't look like they are all that poisonous, but are pretty cool looking.

I used to get those all the time! I imagine the spores are in the potting soil. I had some self watering pots that would always sprout those yellow mushrooms out the bottom. I always wondered what they were. Thanks for the info!
