Cell phone radiation

I have read that placing your cell phone in your pocket while on talk mode is a good way to lower sperm count. However I don't know if putting the cell phone in your pocket while NOT on talk mode is as dangerous. I also don't know if it's safe to put a turned-off cell phone in your pocket. Some might assume it is safe, but I don't know, I thought that maybe some radiation would still linger around in the phone after you turned it off and this might still be a threat.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
To protect against this radiation, you are supposed to place your cell phone a certain distance away from your body. My question is around what distance is more or less "safe" in terms of sperm count, and things like that?
Also, there are times when I would just like to listen to music on my phone. Of course I have to put it in my pocket when I do this. Is there anyway to eliminate the signal or whatever the source of radiation is while I am listening to music?
Obviously I have a lot of questions and I was just hoping to get some answers.
Thanks
P.S. AND WHAT ABOUT LAPTOPS?

Several old studies show that there "may" be a link between cellphone radiation and a lowered sperm count. Other than this, absolutely no detrimental health effects have been proven to be caused by cellphone radiation.
Chat away.

Dude I dunno but in order to minimalize risks from cell radiation I put my wallet in between my phone and my leg instead of vice versia
I also talk on speakerphone with the phone a few inches away from my face instead of touching it

That only discussed brain tumors, I looked for the words "sperm" and "fertility" and they were nowhere to be found.

Here's one.
Note that this is not conclusive before you decide to toss out your cellphone. Though I feel you needn't be concerned with reproductive matters.

Were you paying attention to any of the previous 6,342 posts like you seem to imply, I've stated at least 250 times (3.8%) that we have no plans of reproducing at any point, ever.
Way to miss the point.

Was your claim that we don't plan on reproducing just a half-assed, passive attempt at saying that humanity won't be around for that much longer anyways?

No. I'm not exactly a subtle person. Were I to say that humanity wouldn't be around for much longer, I might have just said that humanity won't be around much longer.
For having such an intricate understanding of my personality, you're not putting on a very good display.

No, I'm trying to understand why you posted this.

The word "you" obviously applied to me, and not your wife and yourself. Why needn't I be concerned with reproductive matters? Maybe I will want to reproduce one day.

That was me making a subtle mockery of the status of your sex life. I admit, it was in bad taste. I regret nothing.
In the future, when I want to be an ass, I will employ my signature bluntness to tried-and-true effect. I do apologise for the confusion, and I hope that I have assisted you in providing some much-needed clarification regarding the issue at hand.

'Radiation' of a cell phone doesn't 'linger' after turning the device off just like light doesn't 'linger' in your room after you flick the switch.
Radiation is also a bit of a confusing term (although technically correct), because many people confuse electromagnetic radiation (e.g. visible light) with ionizing radiation (the result of nuclear fission/decay). The former only heats tissue up (in the worst case), the second has the potential to damage chemical structures incl. dna.

you have to keep in mind. these studies are conducted following the manufacturers recommendations, one of which is holding the cell phone 3-4 inches from your face. depending on which brand you buy.
yall should read the manuals

I watched some documentary show a while ago on Microwaves in our technology (I.E. Cell phones) And apparently there are some things in place near the speaker that blocks potentially harmful microwaves.
They also concluded that standing near a telephone pole gives off more microwaves than holding a cellphone anywhere near your body.
You'll be safe.
