Edinburgh is a neat city, I love the ambiance there. If you're into walking, you can do the Leith walk all the way to the harbor. But all of the city is great to explore on foot. With weather like we're having now, I'd quickly settle for a pint in the nearest Pub though  I liked the Black Rose on Rose Street, but then again, I'm a bit of a metalhead.

I've been looking into immigrating to Scotland recently.  Get as far away from the US as possible and start anew.  Looking into getting a Sponsor for me to work - something preferably  in IT Management and Operations.  But I think I will wait until I get that PMI Cert and Intermediate Level ITIL.

No doubt you'll have a brilliant time during your stay in Edinburgh. Do what most tourists do and take a walk along the royal mile straight up towards the castle. It really is a lovely place to be and has so much history behind it.

I also recommend the following: The Real Mary King's Close. It's a visitor attraction and underground guided tour hidden deep beneath Edinburgh's Royal Mile. I went a while back and thought it would have been a load of crap but turned out to be really good.

If you're looking for any more suggestions, feel free to drop me a message.
