Agar Shelf Life

How long is the shelf life of agar plates? I know some companies sell pre-poured agar plates, so it must be possible. Are thier anythings that need to be added to make it last longer (h202 maybe?)

Cover edges parafilm or tape or something and put them in the fridge and they can last 6 months or longer.

Seran wrap (TM) works well to prevent moisture loss .
after inoculation, seal plates with Glade wrap (TM), to keep sterile, and allow gas exchange .
