 Trillion Dollar Coin Will Fix All Our Woes  3

Barack Obama has topped himself by actually proposing to mint a coin that HE says will have a value of one trillion dollars and then using it to pay off the national debt. The coin will have a real metal value of a couple of thousand dollars of platinum but he says that it will have a one trillion dollar value simply because he says it does. Our entire monetary system is one in which everyone plays the game of AGREEMENT that our currency has a certain value despite the fact that it represents NOTHING of value. His trillion dollar coin adds lunacy to his use of smoke and mirrors while he finishes off the American economy.

lol, yeah zimbabwe's economy is a joke. but i don't think america would ever get anywhere near the hyper-inflation that zimbabwe experienced.
i think with as many bright minds as america has, they will find some way to steer themselves out of this crisis. even if the economy crashes again (which i more then likely think it will), america is too established and important to fail.
and as an australian it is great because as the economies of the world fall to shit, the australian dollar only increases in value. australia emerged from the 1st round of the GFC in one of the best positions of the world, as well as china.

look at the trends from 2008-2009 onwards. you see the big drop during the crisis, and steady recovery ever since for australia in both the euro and usd

 So all my paper money will eventually be useless? It's not like we have small banks making their own currency anymore. I don't see how this can be that big of an issue. Even though, people are trying to back their money with gold, how useful would gold actually be if their was a gigantic economic crisis.
I will admit though I have a lot to learn about economics.

Did you watch the clip that you provided?
No where did the president propose anything like this. HE DID NOT say it would have a value of a trillion dollars. HE DID NOT say it would be used to pay off the debt. HE DID NOT say ANYTHING about a trillion dollar platinum coin.
The reporter said right at the end that the White House had no comment on the story. Do they have to comment on every ridiculous idea?

No comment means we don't want to discuss that. You can debate the reason.
One thing not up for debate is that the first sentence in OPs post is not supported by any facts. Nobody has reported that this is Obama's idea. It is nothing more than unsolicited advice from some economists and apparently one congressman, although all he said was that "it would be legal." I have no idea if he said it would be a good idea.
My suggestion: Pris, you would be more attractive if you wore women's clothes.
