First Hunt - Orlando FL
    #17513816 - 01/07/13 07:29 PM (11 years, 2 months ago)

First time on the hunt today and it wasn't too bad.  Wasn't expecting much, it rained here in Orlando 3 days ago and has been a bit dry ever since.  (in the 50-60's).  Was going out to explore and just get a feel for one of the larger fields in the area.

Found a good number of different mushrooms but only picked two.  The first one was growing very close to the others that I picked so I figured I'd find out what they were.

Taken before picking 1 of 3

Habitat: growing from a cow dung
Stem: very thin
Cap: Golden brown, less than 1 inch in diameter, bruised dark
Spore print color: dark
Bruising: stem was very thin so couldn't tell, cap did bruise dark
Location: Central Florida

All of these appeared to be the same type of mushroom and had the same characteristics.

Habitat: growing from a cow dung
Stem: light color with dark ring
Cap: Brown center getting lighter closer to edges
Spore print color: dark
Bruising: bruised blue on stem, hollow
Location: Central Florida

Thanks everyone for the help,  first post, first hunt..  Now that I understand the posting process, I'll do a better job with the photos and descriptions.  I hope these will work for the time being.  The mushrooms above are currently drying out using desiccant.

Thanks for the quick response.  I had a feeling 1a was not Panaeolus cyanescens due to the fact that it didn't bruise blue but I grabbed them just in case.

Now what to do...
