Lentinula Edodes

This is one of our harvested Shiitake, so far. I've yet to make it out to my buddies house so pics will have to suffice.

Yea this block is massive. It colonized since September and fruited just recently. My buddy(the grower) claims he thinks he waited to long to fruit it.

Yea that's exactly what I thought, as well. Honestly I didn't have any hand in that growing process. The way you guys have the whole process down to a round the clock science you'd think that his blocks could be faster than 4 months! Size of the block?

Four months is a bit long but it looks like it made for at least one really nice shiitake.

I have some Reishi that seem to be taking their time, I drilled some holes in a log, pressure cooked the entire log, and inoculated it with grains, the reishi turned the entire log white, even the bark. it's like a solid mass of mycelium. I'll probably fruit it soon.

Not sure how long they take to fruit.

I don't have a recent pic but this one is about 1 week old.
We've all seen monotub, but have you seen a logtub? (it's a pile of leftover saw dust in the corner)

I PC'ed the entire logs, but first drilled 1/2 holes all through them, almost all the way through, filled with grain spawn.

Sorry for the hijack Rubycon but that is way cool Tmethyl.

I would assume on a log you probably are going to have a long wait though.

Yeah sorry ruby.
I agree Jeff, it was more of an experiment but I'll keep you updated when it starts to fruit.
I also did a few Agaricus Aeg. logs

Is this an old grow, T? I'll be following your Reishi grow, as we will be starting some, too. Please do update!

My buddy actually got his Shiitake cultures from Stamets himself! He flew out to Washington to meet with him in a conference and came away with an assload of premo cultures. Shiitake, Maitake, Reishii, Shaggy mane and lions mane to name a few. Good stuff

Those logs look good man. They have allot of mycelium growing on them looks really happy.
