Psilocybe pelliculosa's
    #17432918 - 12/22/12 03:46 PM (11 years, 2 months ago)

A week before it snows the ground has a frozen for the first time all the mushrooms that had a mist coat are now a frozen ice coat.
Was just leaving and seen these all growing in front of the truck and underneath a cut down young alder tree that we lifted up and removed, putting back after.

Thought i had more pictures but once again the phone sucks ass for this it keeps taking the pictures and not storing them, new camera on boxing day now.

this one was growing with a cluster of them but just had a different head to it, so i took a head shot.

right in the same area i picked up a nice big piece of bark off the ground and this one was growing under it pressed down by the pressure it became flat i am guessing. had a proper spore print, purple, brown

The large, flat striate cap looks like Psathyrella to me.

I think hes saying its a pelliculosa too. I think hes right because of the clear picture of a pellicle, and partly the fibrillose stem base. The cap was conic before he crushed it to show the pellicle, and its probly more pale colored because it was growing under a piece of bark.

I usually refrain from posting in pelliculosa ID requests . Didn't think they expanded that much.

I was trying to edit my post to say it was conic before he crushed it, but you were too quick!

it was really neat finding a unique pelli thanks everyone for the input.

it's my first year picking these little magical guys i was really happy to learn that i could leave to the mountains to hunt magics instead of the field.

I enjoyed every minute of hunting this year and i didn't start until sept/october so i think i will have way more luck after the near year.

yeah, this year I took most of my hunts to the woods and was lucky to find many different psilocybin mushrooms.
Psilocybe pelliculosa
Psilocybe bohemica
Gymnopilus luteofolius
Gymnopilus spectabilis
Pluteus salicinus
Psilocybe azurescens

Its a great feeling!

You should be thankful! The more snow you get now, The more fungi you will find in the spring!
