Eating Azure mycelium: The results. * 2
    #1733714 - 07/20/03 11:41 PM (20 years, 7 months ago)

This just in:

Two quart jars of azurescens on cracked corn were prepared, and incubated for 4 weeks. one week after full colonization a half cup (4 fluid ounces) were taken from the jar and soaked in water for a few hours and drained. After a few days the corn pieces fuzzed over nicely. This was done in hopes of maximizing the mycelium:corn ratio.

one fourth of it (1 Fl. Oz.) was swallowed unchewed in pieces (like pills) slight effects were felt, subject was only fairly certain the effects were not placebo. Subject then waited 4 days before consuming the other 3/4ths (3 Fl. Oz.). Effects were comparable to 1-1.5 grams dried cubensis.

The entire jar of colonized substrate was estimated to be a pint and a half. The entire contents of the jar were estimated to be equivalent to 10-12 grams dried cubensis.

It is still possible thet the potency of azurescens substrate may increase with age.

Potency of azurescens substrate in comparison to cubensis substrate is still unknown.

I may try this, as I have several quarts of azure mycelium which has been growing in limbo for well over a year.. its still healthy and strong, too!

/me crosses fingers for aged mycelium being potent

what weight had the effect of 1-1.5g?
any more willing subjects?
are you planning on trying other substrates?

i would personally mix it with curry sauce to mask the taste, although 1/2 a cup is no problem. what was the taste like?

Weight was not measured.

It was unchewed, and swallowed like you would swallow pills. No taste.

When attempting to chew subject observed that tase was not pleasant. Worse than chewing dried cubensis. A bitter fungusy corn taste.

Somebody in an earlier thread mentioned eating a pint of Pan cyans I think, and tripped pretty hard.

The azurescens did stain dark blue.

How about using what you got to colonize large wood chips, scrape it off and voila, pure myc.

I would imagine a liquid culture would be much more palatable, although even more difficult to measure dose...

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.

I've ground up 2 brf cakes put them in orange juice for 45 minutes, strained them out, drank the juice and had a 3.5 gram trip. Try a simple extraction to get the chems out, I think it would be easier.

So basically fresh azure mycelium is more potent that dried cubensis? By weight? By volume?

No. A half cup of dried cubensis would be alot.

The only comparison made to cubensis was on the amount of trip produced by a quart of azurescens mycelium compared to the amount of trip produced by fruiting a quart jar of cubensis.

A quart jar of cubensis substrate will fruit 20-30g. It will require a terrarium, casing, maintanance, and lots of space. A quart of azurescens mycelium will produce the equivalent of 10 to 12 grams of dried cubensis, a little less than half what the fruited jar of cubensis would have produced. It will require no maintanance and only a fraction of the space. It is also easier to hide making it probably the stealthiest method to-date.

Fruiting a jar of cubensis through to it's final flush to get that 20-30g would probably take 50% longer than it took the azurescens jar to colonize to 100%, making a jar of azurescens 75% as efficient as a jar of cubensis.

I believe it could be dried and ground in a coffee grinder.

Then taken in powdered form, or encapsulated.

Peroxidated grain to grain could also be used to speed up the process. One jar could probably be turned into five within a couple weeks.

This tek sounds promising!. I agree with Mycofile...
a liquid culture would be more palatable. At first
it would be difficult to dose, but if numerous jars
of LC would be colonized completely, the liquid
drained off, the mycelium dried powdered, one could
start off with a small bioassay and over time, come up
with a more standardized dose.

I would imagine a tek like this would produce the
same potency time and time again.

Peace to Everyone,

Peaceful Nomad
