Homemade pizza
    #17244794 - 11/19/12 04:58 AM (11 years, 4 months ago)

Is possibly my favourite dinner ever :awesomenod:

Looses it's magic when you're eating it multiple times a week though.

I just made one with tomato, spinach, hot salami, spring onions, salt/pepper and lots of cheese.
Normally I'd put in some mushrooms too and maybe a bit of avocado on top once it comes out of the oven.

Hell yeah homemades where its at! After working in a pizza restaurant I quickly realized almost all pizza restaurants (or restaurants in general) are gross. I live like ten minutes from the pizza capital of the world too. Anyone got some good sauce recipes?

1 c cooking oil
1 c diced carrots
1 c chopped onions
1 tsp chopped garlic
1/2 c flour
2 c white stock
2 c tomato puree
6 oz tomato paste
4 tomatoes chopped
2 tbsp sugar (optional)
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
ham knuckle
bouquet garni

place oil, carrots and onions in ovenproof skillet over a low flame....brown. Add garlic, simmer 1 minute. Blend in the flour slowly, mixing well. Simmer 15 minutes, stirring constantly. Do not brown. add the white stock slowly and continue stirring. blend in the tomato puree, tomato paste, cut fresh tomato, sugar, salt and pepper. bring to a boil and add ham knuckle and bouquet garni. Place in a preheated 350 degree oven; simmer 1 hour covered. strain through a fine sieve, bring again to a boil and simmer 15 minutes on stove top. Correct seasoning and consistency.

Slice tomatoes in half. Put halves face-down in baking tray.
Add herbs. Bay leaves, rosemary, thyme, sage, pepper, whatever.
Place in oven and bake for 60-90 minutes @ 320F or so.
Strain and discard peels/twigs/etc. Add salt to taste.

Wooster street might be considered little Napoli.

New Haven cuisine
We also invented the hamburger and steak sandwich.

I went to my local building supplies store one day and picked up a $5 slate tile. Had my dad cut it in half so it would fit my oven. So yes

Well last night I just used a store bought pizza base

Sometimes I do make it though. Some plain yogurt and flour is all that's needed.
Then as a nice substitute for tomato paste I'll mix some olive oil, garlic and maybe basil or something like that, spread it over the top and pre bake it for about 10 mins.
Once it comes out I'll make the bottom layer sliced tomato and then just take it from there.
Oh man this is making me hungry...  :drooling:

dude, homeade pizza bites are bomb! You should try those.

Just buy a loaf of bread from the bakery and make them the same way as a regular pizza. Only these are for snacks, not dinner :crazy2:
