Magnavox turntable, 42 bucks on ebay. I was looking and there was 6 mins left on it and no bids so I figured it was meant to be. Theres probably better turntables out there but I do like how this one looks, and for the price...hell yeah  :headbang3:

I guess you're just planning on playing records rather than dj'ing.  Have fun collecting; if there's a record you really want, there's always a way to get it.

Yeah this is for playing records...I do want to DJ eventually but I'll get different gear for that when the time comes...I probably wouldn't even use vinyl to DJ

discogs.com is the cheapest place to get vinyl
ebay and amazon are good too
do resarch on albums
learn what you're buying
it took me 2-3 months to get "good" at buying records online

I already know I want to get Sgt. Pepper's and some Led Zeppelin on vinyl, just classic stuff I've been listening to for years, and now I can hear it how it was originally released.

I also wanna find some crazy used techno and reggae records.  Thanks for info I will check that site out.

my dad gave me his copy of led zeppelin II
one of my favorites.. skips a few times on lemon song tohugh, which is my favorite
sgt peppers in mono blew my fucking mind. it sounds SO much better then the stereo version you're used to
learn how to identify MONO vs STEREO recordings. almost all 60's albums are 100x better in mono. ESPECIALLY true for the beatles.
popsike.com is a good price indicator for records
you'll learn to know how to research vinyl by its label numbers.

Man, da' wife and I have an incredible collection of vinyl.  We even have old big band era albums from back in the 1930's!  Can you believe that shit?  Now I have Pandora so it doesn't matter for shit.  We don't play the records anymore.  Just stare at the titles every now and again, wondering how long it will be before we are dinosaurs in an ever-changing world... WORD...

Cool!  Most record stores have a dollar bin.  You can pick up all the classic rock - Fleetwood Mac, Steve Miller's Greatest Hits, etc.

You might need a pre-amo if your reciever/amplifier is newer.  You can pick them up online fo runder $30? maybe?  I dunno.  Radio Shack sells them as well.  Of course you can go high end with the preamp and spend $$$, but I wouldn't bother.

Psyched!  I think an album side is the perfect length of music.

I have a question since this is kinda relevant.  I got one of these vinyl turntables sitting right next to me and a preamp that says 'computer direct line amplifier' (I don't know what I would need that for...making it louder?) But I'm asuming these turn tables arn't good for anything besides playing vinyl?  My first thoughts ware to use it for beat matching in traktor but all I see are rca outputs :P  I'm amusing there's no way to use that?

The stuff from the '30's still has the original jackets.  It's got On my way! Wild stuff, plus our R&R collection.  Someday I might take you up on that.  We don't enjoy them anymore so maybe someone else would... I will keep you in mind...

A lot of people make the mistake of thinking these albums are worth money for some reason; don't fall into that trap.  You can find anything you need cheap online.
