Not Another Casing Question

Yes. Another casing question. So far so good, I followed all the steps but so far I haven't seen any sign of pinning. The humidity is at 99%, using perlite and an occasional misting, and the temp has been around 70-75 F. It's been 3 or 4 days since I initated pinning and I haven't seen dick. Am I being impatient or is this normal? I have two questions. 1. After the casing layer is patch cased, are you supposed to wait to initate pinning until you see more mycellium peeking through the casing layer? I pretty much intitiated right after patch casing. Was this too soon? 2. When you lower the temp to initiate pinning (from 85 to 75 in my case) are you supposed to keep it lowered through the fruiting stages or is the temp supposed to go back up to 85. In other words, is the ten degree drop permanent or is it simply to let the mycellium know to start fruiting? I hope it's nothing and I'm just being a nervous newbie. Thanks, peace -LM NOTE: THIS POST IS ALL JUST A FIGMENT OF MY IMAGINATION

your humidity is too high, lower it.
1.Yes it is too soon. wait till you see mycelia coming up through (but not colonizing on top) of the casing layer.Cover your casing container and leave in incubating conditions. till you see this happen.
2.maintain the temps you have now, pinning stages require slightly lower temps.
Remember, once you initiate pinning to fan daily (at least twice) and moisten your casing layer thoroughly before the first stages of pinning, but don't drown them, if you have a spray bottle, then spray towards the edge of the container. this way you don't compact the casing.

It could take upto 2 weeks. Optimum humidity for casings is 82-92%, more on the 80% side because high humidity favors contams. Wait it out, it might take 2 or 3 weeks in some cases. Personally I have waited over 2.

Optimum humidity for casings for pinning is 95-100%, after the pins are there around 90%.

While I'm at it, I have a question about light. Can I use indirect sunlight? Or would that be too much?
