Is this a San Pedro?
    #1704286 - 07/10/03 10:09 PM (20 years, 8 months ago)

Just picked her up today.  Ain't she a beaut!

You can't tell by the pic, but ther are 4 stalks, not 3.  They are each about 30 inches tall.

I am so happy about this.  It was a little expensive though, $120.  But I figure this will produce all I need, and allow for more indulgence.

It was labeled San Pedro, so I am gonna be pissed if someone says it isn't.

But now I need to know how to take care of this thing.

How often do I water?
How often do I fertilize?  The guy threw a handful in for me, saying it was time.
Direct sunlight?

And lastly, looking at the second pic, those brown and grey spots concern me.   Should they?  What can I do to make it look better.  The guy admitted to me that he just leaves them outside and forgets about them, doesn't water them, just allows the rain to do it.  But we have had plenty of that lately, so hopefully it wasn't too mistreated.

I am

nice pachanoi. the new growthlooks healthy. sorry to hear you over paid.

you will typicaly be watering every two weeks, half that during the winter dormant stage.
you will want it in full sun most of the day.
i fertilize mine every month with a low nitrogen fertilizer during the growing cycle and not at all during winter dormancy.

Thanks for tips.

$12 a foot is too much?  I thought that was reasonable considering what dried cutting cost.  Especially since this is already rooted, and producing.  What do ones this size that are potted normally cost?

You also said the new growth looked healthy, but what about the old growth?  Is there anything that I can do to get rid of those brown and gray spots?  Are they any cause for concern?

I think the price was not to bad if you did have a hard time getting hold of it in the first place..now you set up for a lifetime.
Make sure to have it in the sun as much as possible and you will have lots of material to take cuttings from this following spring.

BTW the spots are nothing to worry about, hell you even got pups growing on it.

Peace..
