As the title reads, does anybody here have any experience with absynth? Can you share your experience?
I've wanted to pick up a bottle but I always spend my free money on weed.
I was thinking of picking up this kind:

before you could get absinthe in the U.S, a friend brought this absinthe over from france. it had a really cool name/label i think it was called L'Absinthe C'est La Mort. we didnt have the special spoon, sugar cubes, and didnt really know how to make it so my friend watered hers down and i just choked it down strait. it was next to impossible to drink after about 2 hours i finally finished about a 4inch glass. surprisingly i drank more then she did but it was very anti-climactic. it was just a really weird kind of drunk but simply just a 'drunk' none the less. i wouldnt even bother with it again. alcohol just doesnt do it for me

I thought it gave you a different kind of drunky feeling, though
it definitely doesn't make you hallucinate. Those drunkards that were hallucinating on it were hallucinating because they were wretched alcoholics practically on the brink of death. Plus a lot of those guys had STDs which contributed to the hallucinations i think

i believe that there are different drunkie feelings one can get. Wine for example gives me a different kind of sensory experience, then say liquor. same thing with liquor vs beer. It's not like it's a totally different experience, it is subtle. but its there imo

I will say from personal experience that it is possible to get some minor MINOR hallucinations off of properly made absynthe (which is fairly hard to track down)
The trick to it is in timing, a single glass of absynthe will not contain enough wormwood to give any sort of hallucinations and if you try to drink enough of it to get them all in one go the alchahol will kill you. here is where the trick comes in though, alchahol leaves your system at a rate of roughly 1 drink an hour, wormwood on the other hand kicks around for roughly 36 hours, so in order to get any sort of hallucinogenic effect you need to be drinking at a slow but steady rate for a protracted length of time... which also means you'll probably need more than one bottle... still you can make a good weekend out of it. I suggest with some friends and costumes.

i agree especially about the wine. damn i could really use a bottle tonite. its a totally different, giddy, cheerleader type of drunk for me followed by extreme fatigue like i want to sleep but alcohol gives me insomnia. absinthe was mos def a "weird" drunk. like i didnt really know i was drunk the drink took so long to finish that i forgot i would even be drunk. when i walked home my motor functions were impaired but i was completely lucid.

Ive had US absinthe (aka bs) and real shit from over seas. Best way to make it if you dont have the whole set up with the spoon and water spout which no one ever does is just to put 1 or 2 sugar cubes in some water crush em up till they disolve and add the absinthe. It has a very strong licorice taste that not all enjoy altho I personally like it a lot. As far as any different effects from regular alcohol Ive never tried to drink a lot but the drunk does feel very nice and clean.

Yeah, the buzz is slightly different than other types of booze. Nothing major. A great absinthe is enjoyed for its flavor. The hallucinations were caused by old, mass produced absinthes that added heavy mettals such as lead to create the cloudy effect when water was added at a lower cost.

I've had many different type of absinthe on more occasions than I can count. All of it from Europe(mostly Czech Republic, France, Switzerland). I can definitely confirm that all this rumored "Green Fairy" hallucination talk is bullshit.
Absinthe gets you very drunk, very fast due to it's high alcohol content. That's absolutely it. No green faeries, no making out with your siblings, you just get stupid drunk very easily.
