Vanguard: SOH - Free To Play;

I know we have a few MMORPG players here on the Shroomery; I highly recommend checking out this game:

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes was released back in 2007 and was created by Sigil (which was created by, and employed, many of the developers of the original Everquest). Sony Online Entertainment ended up purchasing them a few months after release, but much of the game development is still in their hands.

The game is beyond excellent. I was active in all stages of beta and played from launch for about eighteen months. I left my subscription up for another year before cancelling. Throughout that year and a half of playtime my main only made it to level 32 (though I had a few alts that made it to 20). Simply put, I didn't have enough time to dedicate to the game; the community at that point was also dying down for the same reason which made it harder to advance as the content was very group oriented. The original fourteen servers were merged into a mere two. Too many of the new players had been raised by the ease and less intense MMORPGs and were unable to cope with the difficulty and time that Vanguard required and there were very few Everquest players left that made the switch.

Vanguard has been altered slightly in order to cut down on the time required to advance--including more solo-ability--though it's still difficult. A month or two ago, it went free-to-play (like many of SOE's other games). Go check it out if it seems interesting to you. You'll obviously have to put up with the annoying free-to-play restrictions such as having less bags, restricted loot access, and the such but it doesn't seem to bad.

My account, I assume due to my loyalty to SOE for over 10 years, is restricted for all new characters I create, but my existing characters have no restrictions. :thumbup:

The semester has been going well so far and I've been wanting to jump back into a game. I've just installed and logged in for a few minutes. I'm on the Telon server, still at level 32, and can :pm:
