"Latch On" New York City - Bloomberg at it again

Bloomberg is trying to make mothers forcefully breast feed their kids.
this bullshit makes mothers have to breast feed UNLESS their nurses sign a prescription to get formula.
the fuck is this bullshit? where is the fucking CHOICE in the mothers decision to breast feed or not? who the fuck is this douche canoe?
this is ridiculous..

It gets worse than that: nurses have to give the mothers a "lecture" every time they want formula about how breast feeding is better. This is exactly what nurses at already understaffed hospitals need to be doing.
This is what happens with tyrant wannabes like Nanny Bloomberg: once they start they don't ever stop no matter how crazy their ideas sound. One must stop them before it gets out of hand.

Bloomberg should have to forcefully breast feed on Rosie O'Donell!

Breastfeeding is better. Makes healthier babies, save society money, save the family money, promotes bonding. Breastfeeding is better, and all hospitals should tell that to new moms, the one I worked in did.
Props to Bloomberg for making it happen, should have happened long ago.

You really think it is the place of the government to tell people how to live their lives like this?

Let me ask this- who pays for formula?
Also, does anybody have a link to the story? Making somebody watch a five minute video and 'forcing women to breastfeed' are two different things.

When me and my wife were going to OBYN appointments, the doctors, and mid-wives kept saying "I hope you're going to breast feed" "are you going to breast feed?"
(We live in New York)
Then her last appointment, we saw Dr.Ted (I think he was gay, he had the "Gay" accent.)
And my wife finally said "I'm going to breast feed." and he said "High five girl friend!"
Then when we got to the hospital, the doctor that delivered our daughter, was like...
"I hope you're going to breast feed." And my wife said "I think I want to bottle feed actually."
Then the doctor came back in and had us watch a video on breast feeding, and latching on. After the video the doctor came back in, and had my wife make our daughter latch on.
Then we lol'd cause our daughter wasn't taking to it, so they gave us 5 cans of formula when we left.
Now my wife is breast feeding AND bottle feeding, because our daughter doesn't take to the breast well, but we also found out (On a follow up breast feeding appointment) that my wife isn't producing enough breast milk to adequately feed our daughter.
The only thing my daughter gets out of breast feeding, is comfort. My wife does "Skin to skin" and my daughter will latch, but quickly falls asleep.
I think breast feeding as a whole is better, but it's not for everyone, but physically, and mentally.
I watched the news on this on fox. And they said they will try to convince women to breast feed, but if they want to bottle, then they'll let them.

This is what I could find...
http://www.nyc.gov/html/doh/html/ms/latchonnyc.shtml
Quote:
Latch On NYC is a citywide initiative to support mothers who choose to breastfeed and limit practices that interfere with that choice. It involves both a hospital commitment to limit infant formula promotion and a public awareness campaign on the benefits of breast milk.
Hospitals joining Latch On NYC have agreed to: Enforce the New York State hospital regulation to not supplement breastfeeding infants with formula unless medically indicated and documented on the infant’s medical chart Limit access to infant formula by hospital staff Discontinue the distribution of promotional or free infant formula Prohibit the display and distribution of infant formula advertising or promotional materials in any hospital location Additionally, the Health Department is launching a subway and hospital poster campaign highlighting the benefits of breast milk, such as reducing the risk of ear infections, diarrhea and pneumonia.

Ok. Now, the story is about people in New York City, having babies in city hospitals, with the city paying for the birth. Think any of those people are on food stamps? Think their babies will be on WIC? Ok, now who is paying for the formula? Same taxpayers who paid for the birth, yes?
(LOLing at the idea single young men arguing about breastfeeding, by the way.)
Edit-
Quote:
Mayor Bloomberg is pushing hospitals to hide their baby formula behind locked doors
We kept our formula locked up, for lots of reasons that had nothing to do with forcing anybody into anything. You needed an electronic ID card to get into the formula storage room.

So for all the underage teenyboppers who get knocked up and have a baby, they're saying "Whip out your tits in front of total strangers on the subway and let your baby latch on"?

I agree with you. And not biased at all.
I'm on medicaid and Medicare. Thus my daughter and wife are on Medicaid. (I also have Empire Blue cross, as my primary - Empire is NOT coming out of tax payers wallets, it's my money paying for it. I just get Medicaid/Medicare being on disability.)
My wife and daughter are on WIC. But our local 'Key bank' funds our area/branch of WIC.
But yeah, we do get formula for free because of WIC. Though, I have two jobs, and after Maternity leave my wife will be working as well. So the little bit of taxes we do pay, pretty much goes back to us. So at least we aren't completely "Milking " the situation.
And at least my wife has tried, and is still trying to breast feed.

Yeah. It's not that weird after the first time. Breastfeeding is better, that's a fact.
Why are you guys supporting formula? It's as evil as pharmaceuticals, no? Breastfed babies don't need early vaccinations, you guys know about that?
@Bundy: breastfeeding isn't perfect for every family. But when possible, it's the best option.
