Scumbag tried to screw me out of a lot of money. He said he just mailed out a new check with what he owes me, and I could really use the money.
Gonna burn that bitch and send the motherfucker the picture.

I'm a landlord (among other things).
How did he try and screw you?

What a marvelously inconcise answer.

You never know where people visit on the internet.
How do I know you aren't my landlord?

You don't.
Would it matter?

Yeah, I understand. I just don't want to go into a bunch of details, but pretty much we agreed on what I was going to get back, and then he sends me a text today saying that he sent my roommate both of the deposits and the amount was wayyyy less on what we agreed. He eventually told me he just sent a check for bigger than what we agreed upon (due to some other circumstances) + the money from my other roommate. Told him to blow me.
(if you could not quote this so I can delete it later haha)

What warranted 4 separate lawsuits?
-------------------- "I have no way of knowing whether you, who eventually will read this record, like stories or not. If you do not, no doubt you have turned these pages without attention. I confess that I love them. Indeed, it often seems to me that of all the good things in the world, the only ones humanity can claim for itself are stories and music; the rest, mercy, beauty, sleep, clean water and hot food (as the Ascian would have said) are all the work of the Increate. Thus, stories are small things indeed in the scheme of the universe, but it is hard not to love best what is our own—hard for me, at least."

Suit 1: Retaliatory rent increase - I called the city when he tried to take back the back yard, put a trailer on it, and let one of his employees live there.
Suit 2: Failure to return security deposit - Self explanatory
Suit 3: Obtaining my credit report illegally - Two years after I moved out of the house
Suit 4: This wasn't really me suing him. He tried to get a restraining order to force me to take down a website I made about him and his scams. I sent a letter to all of his other victims letting them know about it and what his real name and address was, etc.
It is a long story, but when I originally moved in, it was under an agreement that I was buying the house. He was supposed to be carrying the loan. I put well over $10k of money and hundreds of hours of work fixing the place...He later claimed that I was only a tenant. At the time, I didn't think I could do anything about that legally.
