Is cobweb toxic?
    #1639538 - 06/17/03 11:57 AM (20 years, 9 months ago)

I know a kid with this big casing that got infected with cobweb, hes tired of it and is going to throw it out, but figured he might do an acid based extraction of the active alkaloids in the mycelium... is the cobweb going to secrete bad shit that is also soluable in acids and will poison him? Or is it ok to just go ahead with extraction? lol talk about a bad trip if you poisoned yourself =P

Cobweb mold isn't toxic to humans itself... the biggest problem is that cobweb mold rots the shrooms leaving the shrooms open to many other forms of contaminations that can be toxic.

So he has 100% positively identified the contamination as cob web mold? Plus he knows there are zero other contams? No it is not harmless and yes he will probably ingest some toxins. Will it make him sick? Who knows. Why bother? That would be some fun trip huh? Worrying if you are going to get sick or not, analyzing every little feeling in your body wondering if thats the beginning of a hellish allergic reaction, or liver failure, or...

Throw it away, don't be foolish.
