What should I set my Ultrasonic timer on? & other setup Q's
    #1630173 - 06/12/03 10:40 PM (20 years, 9 months ago)

I have a few issues now that I'm switching to a bigger terranium that should have a more hands off approach.

1)  I have a Sunbeam Ultrasonic Humidifier no.696.  I'm going to have the setting on low, but what should I set my timer to?  15 on and 45 off?  Initially, I'm going to only be running 1 35 gallon two tier terranium holding about 10 cakes.

2)  I've read some posts about ultrasonics that are on timers not providing enough air exchange.  Thus, I was thinking about having an aquarium bubbler running 24/7 for air exchange.  Is this even necessary?  I assume it would if I went with the two level setup, but would I still need it if the terranium were only holding 8 cakes, instead of 14 or 15?

3)  Also, I have room for a two tier setup in my larger terranium.  However, I have my original 20 gallon terranium that can hold the six cakes that I'm putting on my second level.  The terranium works perfectly.  Should I just use this terranium instead of using my second level for now?

4)  Lastly, I notice there is a "demineralization cartridge" that is available for my humidifer?  Is this to filter the water?  I'm using an excellent source of water, but do these still need to be replaced?

Link to the model I have.

Good karma to anyone that answers my length questions  :smirk:
