Spent casing tea?
    #1613024 - 06/05/03 09:00 PM (20 years, 9 months ago)

I know it's possible to extract psilocybin using cranberry juice, methanol etc but has anyone ever just boiled a spent casing, strained it and drank the tea?

I've been tripping every night now  for the past 6 days as an experiment and have run out of shrooms and wondered if this was possible?

It's possible, but spent casings will likely be weak.

Thats odd. I've read that spent casings are richer in psilocybin than cakes or casings that haven't had a flush !

I've never heard that before.

Spent cakes and casings no longer produce carpophores because they lack nutrients.  Most usefulness was transferred to the carpophores.

There will be elements left in the casing,  but again,  the best parts were were fruited from the casing.

I've done this and it's worked, but you have to drink a lot of tea   I take the peat moss off, though, or at least as much as I can, and blend it and put the water through the coffee pot like 4 or 5 times.

If you've tripped for the last 6 nights, I don't know if you'll trip -- spent casing tea isn't very strong, but I think it's better than throwing it out....

Tastes pretty good, too with a bit of sugar

Actually, casings that have had one or more flushes tend to contain more psiloc(yb)in than fresh casings/jars. However, it's still a small amount compared to the shrooms themselves, so I wouldn't go through the hassle of extracting any alkaloids from the casings, and risking the extraction of all sorts of contams along the way. I'd just tuck the spent casing in a shallow grave under a bush or another shady spot where nutrients are available, and see if by chance any nice shrooms pop up! Really much more worth it than tedious, risky and low-yielding extraction methods.
