Oldies/Motown music, who likes it?
    #15995340 - 03/25/12 06:27 PM (12 years, 24 days ago)

I know a lot of the people here are young as shit and have no clue what music went on from the 50s-70s, but that music was some of the best shit there was, actually took talent and passion to produce. I'm not talking Hendrix, Joplin, Beatles, Floyd, Zeppelin, etc. I'm talking real oldies type shit. Examples include:

Dion & The Belmonts- Runaround Sue

Dion & The Belmonts- The Wanderer

The Monkees- Daydream Believer

Beach Boys- Good Vibrations

Beach Boys- Kokomo

Beach Boys- Wipeout

And Motown:
Barret Strong- Money (That's What I Want)

The Contours- Do You Love Me?

Mary Wells- My Guy

The Temptations- My Girl

Stevie Wonder- Superstition

Ray Charles- Hit The Road Jack

Poast your favorite oldies/Motown hits!

I just watched a movie about "The Funk Brothers", the musicians of Motown.

I can always get down on some good oldies.

Hahahaha, Blue Moon is a classic. I always thought that song said "Moo moo moo moooooo" as a kid. Brings back good memories. My parents listened to that shit all the time. That's where my love of oldies came from, Atlanta used to have an awesome oldies station (Fox 97) and that was all I heard growing up.

Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell - Ain't No Mountain High Enough

Ben E. King - Stand By Me

Otis Redding - Sitting on the Dock of the Bay

Jimmy Ruffin - What's Become of the Brokenhearted

The Temptations - Since I've Lost my Baby

That's one of the things I love about the oldies, there's no skirting around feelings, no cryptic bullshit, they just straight up tell you how they're feeling and what's on their mind. Damn good music.

The fifth dimension are one of my favorites.  On Up Up and away, if you listen carefully you can hear Tommy Tedesco shredding the fucking shit out of a gut-string guitar.

That's what I'm saying. I love me some metal and hard rock, but Motown is just some real musics.
