coir for casings

my friend was out today picking up some vermiculite when he noticed a package of Miracle gro moisture control potting mix with aqua coir. The ingredients are peat moss, coir pith, composted bark fines, perlite, a wetting agent, and fertilizer. His question is will this work for casings?

I just cased using the same Miracle Grow stuff and the myc. grew well on it. I just added the top layer a day ago so i dont know if ill get pins. You can look at my posts, there were a couple good responses when i asked about using this as a substrate.

I heard the fertilizer isn't good for shrooms... anyways it'd be easier to just go all verm or the 60/40 method with some coco coir from pet-co or wherever.

but if you want a gamble, you can try it, it sounds like it would work, but might not give you as much as other methods, if the fertilizer is indeed bad for shrooms.
