LC produced a cornucopia of variety, some jars look amazing, some jars have stopped colonizing?
    #15693664 - 01/20/12 03:59 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

My LC produced a cornucopia of variety, some jars look amazing, some jars have stopped colonizing?  I don't get it, i thought i might get a couple contaminates but about half of my LC jars have stopped colonizing, anyone know why you would get such different results from one LC?:werd:

Agar is not neccessary. Use brf and water in a half pint jar. BAM.

http://www.shroomery.org/8514/Agar-substitute

FYI its a soupy mixture, but it solidifys in the pc. Works wonderfully.

That's a croc of shit. go buy some agar, you'll thank me later. obviosly werDehT is not a very serious cultivator. agar is a must to store cultures, and you need different kinds of food for it to eat. you can't keep transfering to brf, your culture will stall eventually.

Are you aware of anyone trading P.Cubensis isolate cultures? I need some to study under my schools microscope, in biology class

I don't see anyone mentioning storing cultures. If he wants to germinate spores to knock up an lc to avoid cantams then brf is cheap and easy and will work perfectly fine.

Oh i thought it was completely legal as long as its for study.  I thought P. Cubensis was only illegal until fruit bodies formed. I thought mycelium cultures were ok.  Thats why i asked though to be sure, thanks:badshroom: I'm speculating that it must be because in some states mycelium cultures are illegal for certain species. In my state I know mycelium cultures of P. Cubensis are legal.

Cultures are mycelium. Mycelium contains psilocybin, which is illegal to possess, sell or distribute.

I just picked up some agar from the Asian market today. Its cheap and MAGICAL!!! In the 20 gram package I read the nutritional facts. A 2g serving contains 40 grams of sugar! Meaning that agar is apparently 2000% sugar by weight.

Gotta love the nutritional facts on imported items.

Ive read the state law statutes, you know the legal jargan hard to read stuff.  It was actually linked from the shroomery.org where you can look at the law state by state. But my brain really fucked me on this one, because I was certain cultures and mycelium of P. Cubensis were legal =:supercrankey: Glad I don't have any around. But i also thought mycelium only contains "untraceable" amounts of Psilocybin, well fuck me. Glad I found this out. Im gonna have to beat my brains ass because he acted like he knew what he was talking about, that arrogant fuck:werd:

Carefully take the lids off and replace with foil. I used quart jars (pf) and they stalled at about 80 percent and the above method they finished in two days.

That sounds sketchy, your pf jars had vermiculite on top that acts as a filter.  Im using grain spawn and I wouldn't do that without some vermiculite on top, which isn't used with grains.  But your thinking so thats good

if it stalls its either contam'd or too dry or too wet

and too wet usually leads to contams
