Joint pains? Glucosamine may help.
    #15676853 - 01/17/12 06:21 AM (12 years, 2 months ago)

I've been skeptical but I noticed glucosamine is also given to horses for joint issues, so its probably more than placebo effect.

I recommended trying it to my father a few years ago as some people find relief on it, he did and now for a long time hes off painkillers for his back and feels a lot better. If he forgets to take it, the pains return.
He in turn has been recommending it to his friends with similar issues, and most find a cleal level of relief.

Many supplements dont seem to do anything at all, but this one, for some, is better than ibuprofen in giving relief.

So I thought I'd let y'all know. :cookiemonster:

I take glucosamine daily. I had a surgically repaired shoulder, and I've also had elbow problems.

I don't think it works in the same way that painkillers do. In fact I KNOW it doesn't. Glucosamine basically helps your body repair cartilage in your joints, and helps prevent it from deteriorating due to things like arthritis.

I'm not sure how well it works, but

Glucosamine by itself doesn't do much.  You really need to mix it with chondroitin to get any benefit.
