Hi all. Well I thought it about time to post what I have so far on the Species I found in Eastern Washington. For those of you who already have Heard this story I'm sorry but felt it needed to get posted here.
It Started out over fifteen years ago in Spokane WA. I was a kid then and one day one of my buddies called me up and said "hey bro guess what?.. We found magic mushrooms at the church yard right by your house!!!" He knew I was fascinated with shrooms and that I was already combing lawns every- where hoping to find some even though none were reported in the area.
When I arrived I found like six of my friends with handfuls of shrooms walking around the lawn just picking them. They were beautiful blue! They had Blue Rings around the edges of the cap and bluing all over them. After picking they would nearly turn black and when eaten fresh only 4-6 would start you seeing blue haze and feeling weird. Some reports from my friends were that to eat an eighth was impossible and would kill you they were so potent. I think they would stick to about a gram or two dried at that MOST!
What followed was about two or three summers straight of large flushes and many teenagers best summer vacations ever. After a while of my friends loosing interest, and the Church people finding out they eventually started burning large portions of their lawn with some toxic chemical or something that would make large dead spots. Then they stopped growing..
I couldn't give up though. After the internet came out or I figured out how to use it I began the process of trying to figure out what they were. I would comb over pictures all day long of any and every psilocybe I could to try to figure out a match. This might seem ridiculous today but then it was hard to find good info and without having any background on shrooms I didnt know where to start.
When searched under washington all I would get is all the west coast varieties and Spokane wasn't on that map so to speak. Also the books that Were out at the time were bad pictures I thought. When I would ask the experts they would just say.. "ahh you just had some subbalteatus" but that was not true and it bugged the hell out of me. But I had no proof.
At that time Workman was the only one who would even talk to me about it and at least acknowledge my claim and agreed that it was probably not subbalteatus. This was the one thing that kept me going and gave me hope. Thanks Workman! You're cool like that and may Sporeworks live forever!
So for years, and even after I moved away i would frequent the lawn anytime I was in town. Nothing, ever. Zip. But I still kept looking on any and every lawn I came across in the whole region.
Then finally, one day in Colville while in town I decided to walk over a lawn by where I was parked for a lunch break. I looked down and my heart just about broke with excitement. THERE THEY WERE!!!! But were they?
I was pumped. They seemed the same only they were a little milder in the acrid taste. They also did not blue as heavy as the Spokane specimens but they were very very similar. And they were potent. About half a dried gram would be a good starter for one who liked that kind of thing...
So I sent some off to be looked at and the answer came back.. Bisporus! Workman from Sporeworks did this composite.
and here are the rest of the photos from the Colville Specimens...So... If that wasn't awesome enough... later in the summer while on a visit to Spokane, I stopped by the lawn there where I had been trying to find the original species and Whamo! There Was one! I was lucky to get a print. The species in Colville is cool but the Spokane one was the one I really wanted to find before it was lost forever.
Sure enough the Spokane mushrooms were slightly different. The stems actually turned black as I remember and over all were more robust and firm than the Colville Specimens. Also I notice that in Colville the grass they were growing from was like hair strands and the grass in Spokane was more flat/bladed grass. I dont know if this has anything to do with the difference but who knows.
Anyway Here are the pics.

Awesome post!! It's nice to see these pictures and read your story. Glad that after all that time, you were still able to find them once again.
-------------------- Having lived through an existence close to nature, one accepts the small and simple things as most important in life. Sun, wind, rain and snow. The sounds birds make, smells of fresh wild flowers. Love of all kinds, from friends and family, thy self and our neighbors. Beautiful sunrises to the darkest clouds dancing above in the sky. To forgive, learn, share and express. This is the only thing a man such as myself can ask for. What comes as the result is nothing short of the core of human existence, to truly live free in body and mind.

First off thanks guys! Good to have some warm welcomes.
Grapevine? Well, I dont know whats being said but.. I have given the spores off to Workman and a few others over the last year since they were found. I will not mention the others for their privacy sakes.
Workman is safe and I mention him for Sporeworks recognition and interest. Hopefully if enough people are interested it will spur them to do some research and development in Jamaica : )

As for the GRass, I have not found it in any of the wild grasses in the colville river drainage. They were well manicured and well fertilized lawns. The one in Spokane was a Church lawn that was only about two one or two years old and before that a small horse ranchette. The one in Colville was a private lawn but probably had grazing at one time before developed into a lawn. So I can not say that they are indeed wild here. It is possible that they are either transported in on seed or sod from the farm the lawn came from.
O and the year these finds were substantiated with photos was the summer of 2010. Posted my finds then on the Topia. Been long time member there, only recently joined Shroomery.
Frizzie.

I have a question for ya! What time of year did you find them? I will be on the look out in the city for these. Are they like P.cyanescens and fruit in the fall like on the west side?
