fermenting Psilocybin?...

so I've been making different kinds of mead for a few years now, and have wanted to incorporate the essence of psilocybin into a special batch of mead.
so I've wondered how to get this to work out:
*do i use fresh or dried mushrooms? *do i Add the mushrooms before or after fermentation IE: just before bottling *if i was to add after, would i just add an alcohol mushroom extract to said bottles. *CAN I EVEN MAKE A MUSHROOM EXTRACT WITH PSYCHEDELIC QUALITIES????
so i had experimented previously with some ever-clear alcohol, and dried vs fresh mushrooms and skipped the whole fermenting process entirely.
it seems like there was some psychedelic effects, but i also didn't use very much mushroom to alcohol ratio.
the reason i am more interested in fermenting to extract the essence is that a big enemy of keeping meads/beers/wines seems to be light and oxygen. and the same can be said for psilocybin possibly, (the active compounds tend to disintegrate from light, heat, and oxygen).
I'm just not sure if psilocybin compounds is alcohol extractable...
any comments/info/opinions/experiences/recipes (other than the 151 one on "shroomery") is much appreciated.

This is a very interesting idea. I'm gonna keep an eye on this thread...
I can't contribute anything other than a bump though.

You can totally extract in ethanol, also known as "blue juice"

The best bet would probably be to make blue honey (honey infused with dried mushrooms or sclerotia) and ferment it directly like you would with any other mead.

This sounds like it would taste horrible. Ive made "blue juice" and Ive done the extraction too. Both tasted like rotten ass. It was horrible.
I dont mean to ruin your idea, nor am I trying to be dickish. I want you to find a good combination here. But my experiences there were really bad.
I haven't tried the honey bit though, so you might start there. But the whole "blue juice" idea...man...Ill never do that again.

Ive tried making blue honey a few times. Both with wet and dry mushrooms. not only did they not turn blue but i didnt catch more than a body buzz. And from the amount I put in, two table spoons should have had me spinning hard. Just sayin...

hmm the honey idea sounds like it would be less disgusting, i have been experimenting with the ethanol grain extract of 190 proof.
i wonder what other fruity or herbal flavors might cover the mustiness of fungus...
ill have to think about that next time i snack on a cap'n'stem
wonderful feedback! thanks all, ill post back when i make my next mead-mushroom-experiment!

I love the alcohol/mush combo but for me I just make a batch of shroom water and add shots to any beverage. I've mixed with bailey's (YUM), vodka/redbull (ALSO YUM), pina colodas, vodka/oj. Need I say more?

You only use the water? Not the mush? I want to make a potent alcohol extract. Like 2 drops = and Eigth. Its gonna take me some time to get it right tho.

I let the mush soak in the water for usually an hour, then strain out the mush and squeeze out the water. Gives me a nice potent mush water without the unpleasant taste and texture of the soggy mushies. Perfect for mixing "I want to make a potent alcohol extract. Like 2 drops = and Eigth. Its gonna take me some time to get it right tho." An 1/8th for 2 drops!! wow. I did a tincture of shiitake for a friend with cancer (just lost him 2 days ago) and I couldn't get all the alc out of the mush. Still worked but lost almost half the alcohol it seems.

Try this. I have fermented many mushrooms in sugar. The mushroom agents grow in the sugar and become a strong mycodrink. Might also work in honey. But put them in the raw, dilluted honey, because the mushrooms need something to eat. I'm writing a book: http://community.pearljam.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=193742&p=4658112&hilit=mushroom#p4658112
