Invitro questions

I plan on growing some jars that a friend gave me invitro. I want to dunk before the first flush, so should I wait for pins before I dunk, and then flick them off, or once I feel the cake is 100% colonized and does not have pins, should I dunk? Does it even matter? Also, would it be ok to put wet verm on the top and bottom of the cake, before I put it back in the jar to grow invitro? Thanks.

.Should I wait for pins =No
>I feel the cake is 100% colonized and does not have pins should I dunk =Yes
>Does it even matter=From what I am to understand not really as long as invitro pinning has JUST started
> would it be ok to put wet verm on the top and bottom of the cake, before I put it back in the jar to grow invitro? = Not if you are going to to a regular invitro in the same 1/2 pint jar. But if you are going to try the Chronic TEK method of invitro then its all up to you. But remember you will also be more prone to contams if you do so.
My advice to you is go check out Mycotopia's Archive and look at the Chronic TEK its simple, proven effective, and as you are already taking the cakes out of their original jars for the dunk anyway you might as well go Chronic and put them in quart jars after the dunk thus giving more room and proper airflow for fruits.
Hope this helps let us know how it goes.

I have a very minimum space to grow, due to the fact my roommates do not like me much, and I feel if they knew I was growing, they would probably nark. So the only space I feel is adaquit is in a shoe box under my bed. So this would not be enough space for pint jars and a push light on top, only half pints and a push light on top.
So I shouldn't even put wet verm under the cake if I'm growing invirto in the half pints? Why is this?

i think he didnt think u'd have room, but it could probly be done IMO, i mean i dont see y not, especially if u had a layer on top before, then u should be able to put thin layers on top and bottom, .............good luck

proly not that great of an idea, verm is prone to cobweb unless well ventilated.

Verm will contam plus you will not have room. Invitro only works because the cake itself shrinks allowing for both air circulation and growth I dont think it would work as well without the extra space, but you could always give it a try but most likely it would slow growth. You can dunk the cakes in the same jar used for colonization in fact it may actually be better to do so if your going invitro in the same size jar anyway.
