Going A.P.E for Pan Cams

Substrate:
6 cups of soaked Straw chopped to 1" or less 6 cups of Equine, Buffalo, Cow, Rabbit, Goat, and Sheep compost 2 cups of (very fine) Vermiculite 2 cups of powdered Gypsum 2 cups of Coco Coir 3 tsp of Hydrated Lime
Whats getting fruited:
Albino Penis Envy
Suphanburi Goliath
Its all going in a tent set up like a big sgfc supplemented by a ultrasonic. The guy growing these hasnt grown in awhile and only grew cubes before this thisll be his first time with pans. Hes not quite sure when to case the pans or which top allows the best FAE yet so hes still kinda tweaking. So far hes diggin the pan cams.
freshly pasteurized and cooled ready to go
all the substrates are done the same 1" then a 1/4" casing when ready for the Pan Cams only
All the APE's after this will be grown in these 41qt. tubs the substrate is only 1 1/2" thick.
This morning while takin some pics he accidentally spilled his catch can for the ultrasonic all down the side of the tent and some of it got into a couple of Pan Cam. trays he drained them out the best he could, whoops lol.
This is the APE 41qt. tub after i think he said 6 or 7 days.
Pan Cam that got the most water dumped on it these are in think like 6 or 7 days since they got made up.
Pan Cam. #2
this is one two days behind he ones above
Here is an my one and only APE tray very nice though this is 7 days out
Heres the tent without lights or fans hooked up, tick tock tick tock soon though

Dude... nobody believes this shit about other people growing these. If you're gonna grow, nut up and take responsibility.

Thanx Mclovin.
I do have a question though how much farther along should the pan cam trays go before they get cased. Ive read a few different answers and have gotten kinda confused. I was going to just wait till they were nice and white but ive seen others who case once the first layer of fuzz spreads over the surface and its still translucent instead of letting it go an extra day or two. And others who case it right away. What is the consciences these days.

I cased em all sept for the bulk tub which still needs a day or two more. Everything else was 100% colonized. WHOOOOOOOO! Im only growing this many so i can pick some good ones to isolate. Last time I was growing i had about 160 tubs going and i just didnt have enough time to spend on it. This time its my main goal. Most of these will get thrown out im sure.

Well its been 22 hours since i cased the Pan Cams and its already grown up through the casing and tiny tiny little pins have started to pop up. And i did a few g2g Pan Cam jars Saturday night and there already 100% colonized. Its insane how fast these mushrooms move.
The casing was 1/2 peat moss, 1/2 verm (very fine), 1 tsp of hydrated lime per cup, and 2 tbsp of gypsum per cup. I didnt sterilize or pasturize it. I just mixed it up to field capacity and slapped it on. The casing was very thin less than 1/4". I didnt incubate just cased em and fruited. Temps are hovering round 75-80 range humidity floats between 85-95%. Ive got two fans hooked up blowing air across the pans. The air moving around from the fans creates more than enough FAE. The ultrasonic only turns on 5 minutes every hour to keep the air moist but mainly because it keeps the casing from drying out, most the humidity comes from the the actual pans themselves and i put some perlite in the bottom as well. Pretty basic.

day 2!!
A.P.E. tub lookin good
The pan cams that i let colonize the substrate the longest are taking the longest to break through the casing. The pans that i only let colonize 4 days and only had a thin very opaque layer of myc are the ones in the picture. Ive also realized shaking pan cam jars is pointless it really weakens the myc and actually adds a couple days. And they LOVE lots of gysum.

Looking good, but any reason for not pasteurising your casing layer? I really want to see you get some fruits from this. My Goliaths never never germinated. I think they got cooked in the post. I'll be trying again as soon as i get some new genetics.
Good luck!

Hey weller I actually followed rogerrabbits advice. He says that with an unpasturized casing with pan cyans you get a better pinset and decrease your chances of contamination. I also followed anno blue helix and hyphae who all say not too and that less than 1/2inch casing you don't need to incubate. I actually did case my extra albino penis envy pan with the same casing at about 3/4 inch to see how it would react and so far its going better than any casing I've done to date.

Interesting, thanks for bringing this up. I'll be trying this out soon, in the meantime eagerly watching this grow for Pan cam fruits.
