Question about steam sterilizing
    #1482145 - 04/22/03 11:21 AM (20 years, 11 months ago)

The pot my friend has is only big enough to hold 5, 1/2 pint jars. Does anyone here think it would be safe for my friend to stack more jars on top?

Do you mean that you can fit five of them on the bottom layer, but you can have layers going up? If so, thats fine. I stacked mine up a few high. Make sure you have enough water in the bottom to STEAM them all tho.

Sure, you can layer your jars. Just put a towel on the bottom so your jars aren't exposed to direct heat. Also make sure the lids are lose and covered with foil so steam can get in but water can't splash in.

Good luck!

Yep, stack them jars. You are looking for steam, not boiling water. Be sure to watch those towels though. I have burnt many a towel in my Drunken Ninja Master state which resulted in my girl really getting pist.
