WHY DIDN'T YOU DIG OUT THE BASAL BULB? WHYYYYYYYY???? I weep upon this day.

Also, the mycorrhizals are popping up like wildfire in the Eastern US. Now is the time to start checking for chanterelles methinks.

One more thing .... Why is EVERYONE photographing turtles getting it on? Did I miss an important :pm: or something?

I too found the similar looking orange lactarius (not the common name) everywhere I hiked today. I will post pictures tomorrow. After I've completely identified it. I'm almost sure of it.
When desiring an ID of a mushroom key detailed factors: Smell, spore color, bruising color, gill spacing, veil tissue (or lack of), and some more. But provide those things for that lactarius.

Pick up the Audubon field guide too. A good guide among many others
