mole control
    #1446898 - 04/10/03 02:05 PM (21 years, 11 days ago)

they are slowly devouring dude's herb garden.

first the cilantro, now the parsely.

should dude be concerned about them attacking
his papavers?

any solutions short of high powered ground charges?

Moles are insectivores, control the pests and grubs and he'll go away.

Tell tale sign of a mole is that they'll leave large mounds everywhere they go.

Now if you got a Gopher then he's eating your plants.

Eitherway, you can try using traps they cost like 12 bucks, trap and put him somewhere else. Setting up the trap is hard as lots of recon work on the gopher/mole tunnel needs to be done, finding the main run and making sure the trap is setup and baited. Leave it for atleast 24 hours.

You can buy industrial repelleents, Gopher-med or Mole-med and noise maker type things or those sonic things

There are certain plants that are supposed to repell gophers, supposedly they don't work real well.

My suggestion is getting some ammonia. Mix up some ammonia solution ammonia and water, fine the main run and stray spraying it in there, and do it in as many places as you can around the main run and the aux runs, the gopher doesn't come back. After about a week go in and destroy the run by filling it in.

thanks for all responses.

I think that it sounds like I have gofers.

the roots of the plants are being devoured
and toppling over.

oh how I lament my fallen cilantro and parsely,
there were days when the herbs flowed like wine...

:frown:

the odd thing is that I've destroyed much of
his tunnels as I'm re-terracing the back yard.

apparently I didn't get him though.

my neighbor gave me some small plants
that he says help to repel the gopher.

I've planted them throughout the garden
and plan on having one along side each
of my herbs.

are gophers known to nosh on papavers or
ganja?

or do they like strictly seek out the sweet
aromatic roots?
