fully automatic terrarium?

I want to make a fully automatic terrarium. I'm sure it's possible. Between school and work it's a pain in the butt to watch the humidity and Co2 build up. Is there any equipment that I can get to control the humidty and Co2? What equipment do I need and where can I get it? If anyone has built a fully automatic terrarium and posted it in the forum can you paste the link? Even pictures would be cool. Thx -MadmaN

Search the forum for "poor man's pod"....a thread by Magash. My friend uses this tek and it seems like it's going to be good.

The hippie uses this set up!! He never opens his fruiting chamber to fan!! The hummidity stays at 95-99% and the temp. stays about 72-74 degrees.

The hippie uses perlite and changes it every 10-15 flushes, but hears geolite is more maintence free. He uses this fresh air exchange unit to push air to three 70 quart fruiting chambers, never fanning!!

For a fully automated grow unit use a air bubbler in a resevoir of water to add oxygen and get ride of CO2 with some polyfilled holes in the bottom of the unit. Use a vicks cool mist humidifier with a timer to get the relative humidity to around 95%. Usually the ambient temperature of a room will be enough to keep it at ideal fruting temperatures.... but if not.... 1) if your temps are too low then use a fish tank heater set on low in a glass bottle of water and H2O2 (mixed) and adjust to temp desired, place this bottle at the bottom of your unit (if multi-layered). 2) if your temps are too high then you will have problems, at this point do your best to relocate unit to basement or other cool area of your house.
Good Luck.

kindkesey how do you vent the Co2 build up? Also can you explain how you built that air exchange unit along with the materials needed? If I get a cool mist humidifier would that be enough for air exchange and also push the Co2 out of the terrarium through some vent holes? Thx -MadmaN

The fruiting chamber does not have a perfect seal. So the fresh air pushed in, pushes the unwanted Co2 out.

Isn't Co2 heavy and stays at the bottom? I'm guessing you have enough air power to push the Co2 up and out the top?

If you have a brand name of that $15 HEPA filter, the chinchilla would love to hear it. He likes to do google searches to find out where he can get them locally

I had a friend who used to grow a long time ago. He got bad ass flushes w. only a coolmist hooked up to a rubbermaid and a flourescent light on top. Everything was taken care of w. this simple setup.

Was air exchange not a question? Its very possible to get a near fully automatic terrarium. It wont be cheap though. Considering im at a FreeBSD console running links right now, I wont bother to read this entire post. Anyways, depending on the cost of this device depends on the size of the terrarium, and how much space is being used. Cool spray humidifiers work great, espically with perlite. Its a deadly combo if you dont control the RH levels, but timed right can keep a consistent level of humidity. The temperature can be controlled (if a big issue) similar to various incubator teks. Theres other ways to control the heat, but you get the deal.
I recommend you read all the teks related to terrariums and incubators, you can get some good ideas. See what options are available for whatever setup your using. One day i'll post pics of my boys getup, but there really arent any guidlines set. It lacks air exchange, its just fanned all the time. Im sure a flowhood of some type with a HEPA filter would help alot
