early pins, not cased yet

My friend had some mycelium growing, but it didn't completely cover the straw substrate in the terrarium. Apparently the temperature dropped or something because there were little pins starting, but it is too soon and he didn't case yet. the mycelium network was only visible in the center and had not fully colonized even 50% of the straw. what should he have done at this point? should he have kept the temp high until ready to case, then drop temp? should he have dropped temp, small or no case, and attempt to fruit?

thin case (1/8" )and fruit is what kramer would do
