Step 1.

Spend a few hours alone reading the teks.

The above post is fictional, hypothetical, or downright nonsensical.

Do all the research you possibly can handle then do more, get all your materials, and post back with any questions you might have when your hands are dirty.  There are plenty of helpful folks round hurr.....welcome to the shroomery

Here's a silver platter with all your...HEY WAIT A SECOND. You nearly got me. I think the other guys were right, start reading, then read some more. There is a ton of info here for you to parse, you can make a list from the threads you search for. Damion5050 coir tek is great, you'll need to learn bulk spawn techniques and get the materials for that too.

Monos = serious business if you're new to the game, most people "progress" to this point after mastering BRF cakes via the PF tek.

Spend your time reading the trusted cultivator teks first. Then once you get a good idea of what you want expand out from the trusted cultivators for additional ideas. One of the more obvious reasons to do the research is to learn what not to do. If you are really against research then buy RR videos for step by step procedures for success. Good luck and ask lots of questions along the way.

MONOTUB:

Typically two holes on each long side and two holes on the small sides. The holes on the long side should be positioned close to the substrate level. The side holes just below the handles. I tape my tub holes and place the substrate in the bottom. YOu want a trashbag liner or you can tape the outside bottom four inches. If light gets in you get side pinning. Incubate for 10 14 days. Use a 1:1 spawn to sub to ensure you get a quick growth that produces healthy meaty fruits.

Good luck and if nothing else experiment a little to see what works for you. Typically if you follow one of the teks exactly you would still have to tweak you project until you get the desired environment. That means how much pollyfill in the holes, do you use plexiglass, or press and seal (i recommend this) If you do poke small holes in the pressnseal. then fan and mist as needed. myc

Haha. :smile: Funny. I'm not against research, in fact I've obviously done some research if I'm asking you guys about it. :smile: I just wanted to know what your supplies are. :smile: What's neccesary. Telling me to do research isn't terribly helpful you know. I'm doing research, have done research, and will continue to research. If you don't have any personal experience to share, that's fine. :laugh: We can sit here and converse on off-topic subjects if you like. :wink:

If you'd done research you'd have a materials list already...:oldman:

You'll need: plastic tub, big enough; duct tape for the holes; some way to allow light through the top of the tub; something to put holes in the tub with; fully colonized spawn; substrate of choice; light source, 6500k bulb preferably; polyfill stuffing.

That's everything you use when you do a monotub? What is YOUR preffered bulk substrate. :smile:

I have FINALLY written up a couple teks as to how SHP has done things in the past. DISCLAIMER: This is not for the newbie to mycology, and not going to work for everyone! This is simply what works for one person when other teks and methods have failed miserably!
~~~~~How SHP does their unconventional WBS Prep!! (NO DRY METHOD)~~~~
~~~~~SHP's highly disputed method of doing ALL their work outside of a flow hood or a Still air box!~~~~~
~~~~~Troubles harvesting the side and bottom pins in your mono? Learn how!! Dunking included ;-)~~~~~
Any particular reason? :smile: Can't believe people don't have the time to write out the tools they use in their Monotub grow to help a newbie. Guess I'll have to get a feel for the community. :smile:
the time they took to write out their tools is in countless threads that make up this site,find them...finding those is easier than growing cubes.true test of what you are willing to do IMO.
there are numerous post exactly like this one each hour...many other cultivators just read through things to learn for a while on their own as well...many people/most people only read one or two threads and then say "I searched but I couldn't find answers." and then people end up pointing out that there are more than 30 threads more than answering these questions....it isnt a personal thing.
you do for yourself a great thing by showing you can find the basics on your own...there will be time for certain questions not clearly answered in the future,but you haven't even gathered the shopping list yet:lol: good luck on your growing though.....read,patience,read some more,and be sterile as fuck during procedure.all will go well:super:
I wanted to add....this isn't the best hobby to look up in just a week and want to dive into without knowing what you are doing....take your time learning what is going on so you don't end up disappointing yourself with a failed grow....many people come and go in this emptyhanded.
whether it is for some sort of selfish money interest or you actually love mushrooms,you still have to put your time and effort into it.nobody else will grow them or learn how to for you.
