Healing spices, herbals, and adaptogens

ok so for christmas i am hoping for some Bacopa, perhaps Ashwagandha, Holy Basil... any others you guys think would be wise for the healing of my Mind, Body, and Spirit? this is something that has become very important to me as i now am starting to form an understanding of my place in this world... i have much to accomplish
i'm currently taking Turmeric and Cayenne on a daily basis to help with digestion, healing, anti-oxidant support, etc.
i suppose christmas would also be a good time to procure some looseleaf green tea as well as a pot
so my main questions are these: those of you experienced with spices and herbal healing, would you recommend going with already encapsulated products (mainly extracts,) or just going with the bulk herbs themselves and either capsuling them myself, making teas, etc.
i'm willing to do anything to get healthy because i have a lot to accomplish in this life...
thank you in advance for any wisdom shared,
sincerely, everyones friend, owls

I use Starwest Botanicals for raw bulk for a lot of things. Get powdered botanicals if you can -- you'll be happier in the long run. They also have bulk loose leaf teas as well. If you have an LLC or a business license it enables you to get a wholesale account which is worth it.
There is a major price increase when encapsulation is involved.

Depending on where you buy the quality can be better.
We do "all phases" - we dig and cut some, some we buy in from a organic producer or distributor like mountain rose herbs. Some we use more as whole/bulk, like the essiac, and some we capsule up. Extracts sure are easier than caps if you have a plant that is good for extracting. Commercial products are dosed for a general range of people. When you figure them for yourself and make your own stuff, not only are you usually getting better it is a very pleasant way to develop some useful skills. Over time you end up collecting a lot of jars, tools and other alchemy equipment. There are also numerous free short courses on making up herbals and blends out there.
