when i'm stickin straws in top of cakes to keep them moist what kind of water is best...or would a water/alcohol mix work?

trust this as well: alcohol is deadly to mycelium. i think you have some more homework to do.

yea man you're prolly right....only my second grow and last time my cakes dried out before they were done flushing......but alright thanks for the suggestion

Same thing happened to my friend's first two sets of jars. One flush on perlite and they croaked

You could probably put a little h2o2 int the water. My friend soaks his cakes in h2o2 before casing and he does not get contams. No alcohol or you will kill the cake.
