Replaced my mattress with a HAMMOCK!

So I've been using this shitty old mattress for the past 9 months since I moved to my new place. It was just the only mattress available and it was (almost) better than sleeping on the ground.
My lower back tends to get a little kinked sometimes, but this shitty mattress was just painful, and it made my back hurt throughout the day.
So I installed some looped bolts in my walls and put up my hammock! Last night was my first night in it and my back already feels way better! The only problem is that the nylon fabric breathes really well and it was a little hard to stay warm. But that will be great during the summer.
Also, now I have way more space in my bedroom because when I'm not using the hammock it just folds up against the wall. It will be easier to clean, and I can do yoga there too.
Does anyone else sleep in a hammock on the regular?

I can't see a hammock being good for your back if you're using it as a replacement for a bed. You should hit up Craigslist or check around hotels, I always see decent mattresses getting thrown out around here, they're just usually dirty.

I actually googled "hammock back pain" and I found a lot of people saying how they switched to a hammock specifically because of their back pain and raved about how amazingly it relieved it.

One would think that regularly sleeping in a hammock would do a number on your spine. Plus it's hard to turn over in a hammock which would lead to uncomfortable pressure points.
That said, I haven't tried it so I certainly am no authority on the topic. Depending on the type of hammock, you could save a heck of a lot of room too.
Let us know how your back fares.
Me, I'm laying on my tempur pedic typing away on my laptop right now. A few brave souls have tried to get me off my tempur pedic when I'm settled in ... none were foolish enough to try a second time
Edit: I used to have a "seat" style hammock I guess you would call it. It was suspended from a tree branch, and when not in use the thing looked like a hanging "U" of cloth hanging from a wooden cross-beam. Once you got into it, though, it looked like you were in a cocoon. I can't say I ever slept in it, but I did enjoy it thoroughly.
Does anyone know what those types of hammocks are called? My description isn't the best, but I can't think of how else to word it.... I could make a drawing but I'm lazy.

I enjoy sleeping on my stomach and sides. No hammock for me.

I've always wanted a hammock but I don't know if I'd want to replace my bed with one. They're perfect for naps but sometimes you just gotta plop into a bed ya dig?
My fondest memory of my trip to Mexico involves me napping/chillaxing in a hammock for multiple hours near the beach. So nice.

I have a nylon travel/camping hammock, I think what is important is that you want it to be long enough that you can stretch it relatively flat so you can lay in it longways.
I personally think that the hammocks with the bars at each end are a pain in the ass, and they are notorious for flipping people over and causing injuries.
Also, the ones that are made out of weaved ropes/threads suck because you always end up putting your hand or foot through them and the weave gets all fucked up.
I bought this one, cost $23 US including shipping. http://cgi.ebay.com/Army-Nylon-Travel-Camping-Swing-Parachute-Hammock-Sack-/150459142363?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item23081050db
Like I said, I did a bit of research and hammocks are supposed to be really good for back pain. Either way, you have no idea what kind of awful mattress I was sleeping on. It was a rubber mattress and the springs would jab me if I didn't lay just right. They probably have better mattresses in prisons. If I had my old tempurpedic (moved and couldn't take it with me), I would never have considered this as an option.

You're not worried about falling out in your sleep? If I try to move on a hammock I fall off. I can't imagine being able to stay completely still while asleep.

When I was in high school I hung one up in my room. I kept my regular bed too. The hammock ruled when I was baked. My friends would always want to use it too.
