Smoking syrian rue?

Hey all. I've read several references where people have extracted the active MAO inhibiting components from syrian rue (via lemon juice and boiling) and, after reducing the liquid, either smoked the goo or dipped something such as a clove cigarette in the goo and smoked for effect.

Does this work? Can you smoke and thereby ingest these active components?

Yes, when it is dried and rolled into a 'hash', then smoked in a pipe.

well, you would be smoking a citrate salt of the alkaloids...
best bet is to extract it into vinegar & add ammonia; the _freebase_ alkaloids will settle out & are much easier to smoke (once they are dried, heh...)

Hey all. I know this thread is almost 18 years old, but I'm hoping someone can tell me if the nausea is alleviated by smoking rather than orally ingesting.
